Alinea is one of two restaurants in Chicago to receive three stars from the <em>Michelin Guide</em>, its highest possible rating. It is owned and operated by chef Grant Achaz, who is widely-known for his deconstructionist techniques and expert preparation. In addition to receiving three <em>Michelin</em> stars, Alinea has been named "Best in Chicago" multiple times by <em>Zagat</em>, "Best Restaurant in the United States" by <i>Gourmet</i> magazine and "Best Restaurant in North America" for 2010 and 2011 by San Pelligrino World's Best 50 Restaurant Awards. Instead of taking reservations, the restaurant offers non-refundable tickets that cannot be exchanged. Tickets are sold for the tasting menu only, and the restaurant offers two dinner services. Patrons should pay close attention to Alinea's social media accounts in order to learn when tickets and tables will be made available.
