Pizano's Picks DePaul Area For Next Pizza Place

Pizza lovers, rejoice. A Chicago favorite will soon be moving into a vacant Lincoln Avenue space near DePaul University.

Pizano's Pizza is making its way to Lincoln Park, close to the DePaul University campus.

The restaurant, which has four locations in Chicago—the most recent of which opened in Wicker Park—and one in Glenview, is moving into the Lincoln Avenue space formerly occupied by Maid-Rite, according to Eater Chicago.

Pizano's features both thin and "world famous" deep-dish pizza, as well as a plethora of both Italian dishes and American fare. The business is owned by Rudy Malnati Jr., according to its website, who opened Pizzeria Uno in 1943.

"He loved traditional food based on authentic recipes using quality ingredients," the site says. "And he was a stickler for making sure this is what his customers received from his kitchen, along with warm, friendly service and a comfortable setting in which to enjoy these fine dishes."

Malnati Jr. opened Pizano’s in 1991.

"I learned about pizza from my father with that knowledge developed our now famous thin crust pizza that Oprah has called 'her favorite' and the USA Today listed as top 10 in the Nation," the website says.

Maid-Rite shuttered in March after only six months in business at Pizano's future location, 2429 N. Lincoln Ave. The pizzeria should open there in the fall, Eater says.
