'Colorful' Tea House Brings Hong Kong-Style Milk Tea to Lincoln Park

A new tea house opened its doors this past weekend on Clark Street, boasting "tea that doesn't have to be boring."

Among the newest businesses to land in Lincoln Park is one that begs the question, "Does tea have to be boring?"

The answer, as far as Te Milk Tea House is concerned? "Absolutely not."

After hosting its grand opening over the weekend, the new Lincoln Park tea house at 2551 N. Clark St., is now serving up exotic, creative blends using a product called a Teapresso machine which allows "an efficient gourmet brewing of tea and espresso" simultaneously.

The business offers "colorful" Hong Kong-style milk tea that blends sugar, flavored teas and condensed milk, according to staff members. Its business license became effective Aug. 7 and isn't set for renewal until Aug. 15, 2015, city of Chicago data says.

"Te Milk Tea believes that the only way our customers can have a great experience is to use the freshest products and techniques," the business' representatives say. "We understand your demand to have alternative and healthy choices for your beverage, and that is what we strive to deliver."

Customers' experience starts with choosing their own tea flavor—a fruit, or milk—followed by "sinkers"—fruit flavored tapioca pearls—and then their preferred sugar level.

"Tea can and should be fun and exciting," the business' website says. "Using this as our mantra, we have worked hard to create flavors that are sure to excite your palate … Whatever you pick, we are certain it will give you a new and delicious perspective on what tea should be."

Te Milk Tea's summer hours are from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
